Basement or Dungeon? This is what happens when we cling to material goods. Although most of this "stuff" hasn't been and won't be used in ages, our culture encourages us to hang on to our "stuff". Much of what we cram into our closets and storage spaces are sentimental bits and bobs that will come back to cause us stress at a later date. Look at items objectively and keep only the minimum. Many of your abandoned items can be used by other people, and the benefits of donating and de-cluttering are hugely beneficial as you can see.
